3 or 10 For most of my life I have believed “mainly 80% of people are good”. I believed only 2 of 10 people were evil, narcissistic, self-centered, or wanting to hurt others. For the most part I didn’t feel walking though life was a danger.
As a teen when going out my grampa would give me a quarter telling me “if you need me… call” a $0.25 safety net that I never used but was confident that if needed I could. Grampa knew there was evil in the world.
I have a dear sweet friend (completely opposite of my personality, she is soft, quiet, dedicated, hardworking, and well liked in the community) that I trust with all my successes and secrets; Yesterday I asked her “how many people in your life can you trust?” I’m dumbfounded at her answer… “3-4”. And she followed it with “that’s why I’m cynical”.
I was at a public meeting this week. Of course run by a man, well groomed, organized, educated, asking for a position of leadership. With an undertone of superiority by constantly bringing up his stellar resume. It’s cool but not any cooler than others boasting trying to get a job.
Resume and obituary are the 2 places that make a person look good. Little fibs, by omission not lies. When reality is “the exit interviews, or Human Resources complaints” are where we should get a true picture.
I’m waiting for the funeral that talks of someone that surly lived a life of “going to hell” not heaven. Ha Ha
Back to cynical!!!! I’m getting to a point I don’t believe that the world is filled with 8 of 10, or 80% good!!! I’m truly feeling it’s a complete flip… on the news there is more violent crimes than loving caring people gaining awards for bravery or caring.
End of Times, terror, horror, stories, seems our daily reality.
3 or 10 a man; raised in north Idaho in the 1970’s, in a religion that teaches a “woman’s place”, of the opinion it seems “his agenda and goals” are superior, scolded me (and publicly scolding others) for asking a question yet answered every question after mine, publicly ssshhhuuushed me 3 times while I asked for clarification on his quoted statistics that were incorrect, (10,800+ when the correct number was closer to 4,000) to give credit where it is due he admitted the “statistic” was incorrect and confusing. His scolding and ssshhushing me says a lot more about him than me.
80/20%???? As I get older it doesn’t feel we live in an 80% great world. It does feel chauvinistic, drama queen, narcissistic, backstabbing, control freaks are taking over. And it also appears my loving, calm, private, friend feels some of this too. Maybe I’m normal? Maybe not!!! I don’t want to feel cynical but I do. 3 positive thoughts are tricking the mind away from this new found world. 10 things I’m grateful for is such an important exercise. When evil, or even just rude, puts pressure on a life we must “seek” what now feels 20% not 80%. Hard work for sure.
